Fundamentals of Fluvial Geomorphology provides an accessible introduction to the study of river landforms and the processes that shape them. Rivers are significant geomorphological agents, they show an amazing diversity of form and behaviour and transfer water . the process of establishing the probability that a hazardous event event of a particular magnitude will occur within a given period, and estimating its impact, taking into account the locations of buildings, facilities and emergency systems in the community; the potential exposure to the physical effects of the hazardous situation or event; and the community's vulnerability when subjected to.

This chapter deals with fluvial geomorphology—that is, with the landforms developed by flowing water. This seemingly simple subject encompasses a rather complex set of interrelated processes that produce a diverse array of fluvial forms. We restrict the content of this compendium chapter to those aspects. @article{osti_, title = {Experimental fluvial geomorphology}, author = {Schumm, S.A. and Mosley, M.P. and Weaver, W.}, abstractNote = {The authors bring together the results of several years of experimental work in drainage basin evolution, hydrology, river-channel morphology, and sedimentology. These investigations are related to real-world applications, particularly geological.

This basic river morphology course has been offered since and utilizes the Applied Fluvial Geomorphology book (Rosgen, ). About Dave Rosgen, P.H., Ph.D. Dave is a Professional Hydrologist and Geomorphologist with field experience in river work spanning 49 years, 20 of which were with the U.S. Forest Service. Tools in Fluvial Geomorphology comprehensively reviews tools used in fluvial geomorphology, at a level suitable to guide the selection of research methods for a given question. Presenting an integrated approach to the interdisciplinary nature of the subject, it provides guidance for researchers and professionals on the tools available to answer.

This book provides a comprehensive overview of recent developments in river channel management, clearly illustrating why an understanding of fluvial geomorphology is vital in channel preservation, environmentally sensitive design and the restoration of degraded river channels.

Fluvial Geomorphology studies the biophysical processes acting in rivers, and the sediment patterns and landforms resulting from them. It is a discipline of synthesis, with roots in geology, geography, and river engineering, and with strong interactions with allied fields such as ecology, engineering and landscape architecture.
